This has been the first online forum/community I've ever gotten involved with. I'm still learning the nuances involved here. I know I've posted alot in the short time I've been here. It's been a form of intense therapy that I really needed. Just to voice myself, be heard, get some feedback. I don't have much in the way of close friends. I'd like to feel like I can fit in here. I'm curious about how I come accross to people here. I know I won't please everyone, but I'd like to feel like I get along, for the most part. Just wondering how my personality comes out. Maybe there are things I can't see that will help me out in my life outside of LF too. Thanks.

There are none. Just feel free, and trust people here. When I first joined, I was sceptacle of why people wanted to help. I learned that it's an innate feeling to 'want' to help others.

How do you come across?

Affable, intelligent, good-natured. considerate, wry, thoughtful, self-confident...nothing at all negative, disconcerting or objectionable in my experience.

Do you think you're already addicted to this forum? I know some of us are. I am. Talking to a bunch of strangers. Nameless faces. Everyone's equal so to speak.

It's the internet. It ain't real. The real world is where people know you.

Does it matter? How you come across to these nameless faces? People say alot of stuff on here that isn't real. They say what you want to hear. Or they say the exact opposite just to challenge you.

It's the internet. Your personality isn't concrete. You think before you type. You edit, press delete. It isn't real. If I ever met you in person, you would be different from what I expected. Vise versa.

I second this post. However as already mentioned we know but a fraction about you and knowing the rest is not really neccessary. I think the most important bit about this site is the collective experience and the learning value... As long as you learn something new each time...

I agree with Chlorine, although certainly some of our genuine personality comes across in our posts.

I'm inclined to say that you seem fine so far, CircleC. You haven't done anything irritating that I have noticed, and have even agreed with me a couple of times, of which I approve. :-)

But in fairness, I don't think I read your original thread due to lack of time, so you'd better stay on your toes.

Nothing you said, Chlorine, about the how people behave online is any different than my experience of how they behave in real life.

word. i think i can tell a little about everybody from the internet. i work in a job where i have to figure out unique ways of communication and i've opened my mind more and more to the idea that this is another mode. and like hayward implied, you can put up as much of a front here as you would standing to somebody face to face.

...and i can tell that circle is a normal, decent, non-offensive person.
