Personally, I'm for Abortion, but the 'last' speaker spoke on the subject, and made me feel like an ASS for my position...

I'll try browse the net for a transcript of what he said (he was the Physician). I think it may be too early to be on, but I'll see what I can find.

I missed it; if you post a transcript, I'd be interested in reading it.

I should say that anyone nominated by Bush is suspect in my book, though.

He was the person that Bush nominated to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, Tone. The concern is that the court is already leaning to the right, and Bush is nominating people who may be hard-right, which will upset the ideal (a moderate court). Ideally, the Supreme Court is supposed to balance out the power of the President, but it looks like Bush is attempting to stack the court with "his people". Actually, we should ALL be afraid. The Supreme Court is just as powerful as the president, only their appointments last their entire lifetime. We could be stuck with a far-right court for a very, very long time. Issues you might expect to see before the court in the future include stem cell research, abortion rights, separation of church and state issues, the legality of torture, etc.

also, the fact that Alito is nomitated to replace Sandra O'Conner, and she was a Swing Voter, meaning the 'other' 8 members of the supreme court always 'out voted' each other, and hence, a tie.........

..........was it not for O'Conner, Affirmative Action would not be in effect today. It was HER vote that swayed 5-4 for it...

and that is why this is VERY VERY important,

You know, is it me, or is BUSH as ASS! I HATE to sound unpatriotic, but I REALLY don't like him. He BS's his way out of everything. He is VERY secretive...

He appoints his college roomate as head of FEMA. And the guy ****ED UP in the Katrina Crisis. He nominates close friend Harriet Mieres. He dodges EVERY tough question with rhetoric. He LIED about WMD.

I saw David Letterman interview Bill O'Reilly a couple of nights ago. Omigod! That was so damn funny! He roasted Bill on the imaginary "War on Christmas" and told O'Reilley that he believes that 60-70% of what he says is just made up. I have never seen anyone be so hostile in a late-night interview.

Anyway, I couldn't agree more with you about Bush. I can't believe people voted him in a second time. It reminds me of Lloyd's signature line: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." Sadly, I think our country will suffer the consequences for many years to come.
