| | | game making help i am making a user-friendly 2d RPG with a game engine called 'rpg maker 2000' and i am sure most of you are not familiar with this.
id like a few cool people to get with me via I.M. and join my 'developing team' that i wanna start. if you are the least bit interested please let me know.
(i hope people like cybog and rsk and choi wanna help!)
i want it to be big, so its gotta be a hit game. i hope that it gets big enough to be made into a 3d game or something and onto the leading videogame producers like nintendo and microsoft and sony, but im only dreaming.
this is just for fun and i want to share creative ideas with other artists who are into videogames(especially the old 2d rpgs!)
thanks in advance, lilwing
(P.M. me if you are interested)
ps: ill teach you anything you need to know. no exp. required. | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.

| | | i think i already tried using this software , if i remember well its not that complicated , but dont expect it to be a quality title , just a homemade product . i think the monsters are 2d and they are just still images ... i could be wrong .
to make a decent quality rpg nowadays it requires at least a good pack of workers with at least a couple of thousands of $ in production , not to mention lots of time .
i tried this already , unless you are some bill gates no.2 and in RPG's , then sorry to crush your dream but snap out of the bubble and go grow some byceps instead .

| | to make a decent quality rpg, it has to be fun and different, you dont need a 1000$ to do it but you do need the time(which i have)
and i have tried the games several times and all of mine unfinished failures because i cant think of any ideas and eventually forget about it over time(and wouldnt happen if i had other people who were into it)
i dont care if it goes big or not, i just wanna do it for something to do. could be good, you never know.
its not the 3d design but the originality of the game that makes it good
so do you wanna?? | |

| | | rpg, like zelda? this is rpg? like final fantasy?
if so then i have a great idea you can start with :
maybe a gangster who walks around and he must make important choices when people ask him the questions, and his response will lead to his fate, he can 'choose to be bad guy or good guy with responses, if he is a bad guy, he will do this and that, if if good, then this and that, yes>?

| | I've never played much with 2d sprite style engines, but I am sure it is 100x less complicated than the 3d world. The advantage is that is is MUCH simpler, but the premise is still the same. One advantage of using 2d games is that if you can draw the character in extremely low pixel form, you can make it in a 2d sprite world, which "Engines" like this are.
Something you have to think about before you just randomly ask people "Do you want to make a game with me" is that you need to understand the engine yourself a little bit and then decide what kind of help you need to do to make a fun game.
There's a few hundred million people out there who would LOVE to make video games, but don't have the slightest clue where to start with making them. My advice to you, is to learn this technology a little bit so that you have a basic grasp of how it works.
Check out some of the other games that were made with the software, ask questions to other people who did the same thing...learn what you can and can't do and THEN once you understand the system you can recruit. It is pretty hard to recruit people or explain a program to people if you don't understand it yourself

| | P.S. The "old school" 2d games were the shit back in the day!
And speaking of designing games, here's a few shots of my FPS level from last quarter at school:

| | yes, RSK, it will be something like final fantasy 3, and something like the zelda on super nintendo.
and yes, cybog, you are completely right, infact its a million times less than the 3d engines; you only have to mess with about 1/2% of the coding if you are making a 'highly detailed' 2d game.
and fyi, i have been working with rm2k since 2001, so i am pretty experienced with it. it is extremely fun to work with and i know everything needed to know. infact on several rm2k forums, i give daily advice to anyone who asks. and in a few of those i have posted requests like i did in this one. no response yet; the forums that i go to dont have high population or anything..id say about 100 people each or something like that.
also, ever since 2001, i have contacted a few people who have made popular, successful, homemade rpgs, such as dragon warrior legend, mazae 2nd strike, a blurred line, and a few others. those were very awesome games!!! infact i got a few ideas from all of them. it all started with my obsession of dragon warrior rpgs. yay!
in a nutshell, im just looking for someone who is willing to spend some time on a developing team for an underground rpg.
so please, by all means, if you wanna have a little fun making a game at relative ease with me, please let me know now!
im starting it right now!
awesome 3d map, cybog! that musta took more than a few hours! im guessing weeks! i can see it in an FPS game right now; pretty sweet man! keep up the good work. im going into graphic design/multimedia when i go to college; those both incorporate 3d modeling!
and yea RK, that gangsta idea is a good one and i have chipsets for that, that could go very well with that. if youd like to incorporate more ideas into it or start a team with me, gimme your aim screenname or something, mkay?

| | Nice to hear man, don't ever let your dreams die. When I was in the 5th grade many, many years ago and Nintendo was brand spankin new, I had dreams to one day make video games.
I am much older now and am going to school for it, plus I now work as a 3d artist for a Virtual Reality Company developing military scenarios
Let's see some examples of your past work with this software!
Oh, and P.S. again - The original Dragon Warrior! OMG that game pwned me for many many weeks and restless nights

| | | I'll take "I don't care" for 500 Alice.
These images are hosted on Image Shack, not on this website. So, the fact that I cleaned out images that WERE hosted here is irrelevant.
Do you normally just troll threads to point out the shortcomings of others, or only when you really want to make yourself look stupid?

| | | Who makes who look stupid? Whenever ANYONE opposes you, Cy - you ALWAYS have to berate them and call them names / insult their intelligence, etc.
You can never just have a simple argument, or a civil disagreement, you always have to act like a child and throw a little tantrum by poppin off at the mouth.

| | | damn, i thought i got you there, but of course, you speak only the truth.
what's wrong with pointing out shortcomings? you do it all the time. plus i was not mean or trying to hurt you, i was only pulling your leg. cheer up a bit, would you?
and no, i didn't just troll this thread for the reasons you suggested, but because i was interested in the topic.

| | | Game designing huh? I think every person whos a videogamer trail through the thoughts of creating their own game. However in my case, it was shortlived. Got RPG maker a few years back and experimented, moved onto 3d max and after that it just kinda... died. So it's cool to see people taking this ambition seriously. BTW, nice work there Cy. | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.
