My cousin once told me that he really believes that prettier women have a harder time in relationships than other women.

I don't know whether i necessarily believe that, but I just wanted to know what you guys think about that statement and why you would agree or disagree.

I disagree. It would be really helpful if he gave reasons why attractive women have a harder time in relationships than other women. Beautiful women can get away with a lot more sh*t, hold the upper hand in a relationship b/c they can easily find a replacement, and are less likely to be cheated on.

I don't really think attractive women have a harder time in relationships. They can become spoiled though, so I don't know, maybe it's themselves that make it harder.

Maybe the hard part is making choices like "Should I stay in the relationship or dump him and go out with one of the many other guys waiting in line for me"

I dont think so. If anything, in my opinion, I would think that girls that see themselves as unattractive would have a harder time in a relationship.

Neo: I think attractive women are more likely to marry attractive men and therefore would have no "advantage" over him.

People cheat for any number of reasons, and I know lots of very attractive women whose husbands were cheating plenty, and plenty of average-looking women whose husbands are decent, kind men who don't run around.

That being said, I do think that women who are exceptionally beautiful (or exceptionally intelligent) are at a slight disadvantage in the dating world, since men often don't enjoy feeling like they are "inferior" to women. I have found that these women often have to wait around until they can find someone who isn't intimidated by them.

I think very intelligent women (on the whole) have it harder than the very beautiful ones, though.

vashti, you can apply the same logic to unattractive women. So your argument gets us nowhere. The fact remains there are more beautiful women with less attractive men than vice versa.

By the way, I don't think men are intimidated by intelligent women. I find that most smart women are stuck up. Men don't approach these type of women just like they don't approach ice queens who think they are the sh*t.

That just goes to show you that women are often less shallow than men.

How often do you see a breathtakingly beautiful man with an unattractive woman? Never. They limit their own dating circles by insisting they can only date equally beautiful women, so they are, in fact, at a numerical disadvantage.

My single, brilliant friends would disagree about men not being intimidated by them, and judging from what I can see, I would have to agree.

However, one could argue women who marry for money are not being shallow, but practical.
