surely, anybody who wants a mini will buy one, and if they cant afford one, they will sooo not buy this instead. right? my last hope for humanity hangs in the balance.

the mini is just such a distinctive look.. it's like seeing a beautiful purebred dog mixed with some cheapo mongrel. *shudder*

Sorry, Tiay, but I would consider it (if I were in the market). Mini Coopers are (I believe) made in Germany. No way would I drive a German car to synagogue.

We still have a couple of Holocaust survivors at our synagogue, and I remember one of them telling me how odd it seems to have Jews pumping money into the German economy, and I guess I sympathize. I don't care what other people drive, but I would not want to be the person causing unnecessary discomfort to a Holocaust survivor, especially over something so trivial as a car. There are plenty of *other* cars I could drive that are equally well-made, and I don't feel as though I am sacrificing anything of importance.

Once all of the WWII generation completely dies off, I might buy German. If that makes me a racist whore, so be it. I worry more about potentially upsetting Holocaust survivors than I do about being called a racist whore.

well you think about it, it's like who the hell buys a korean car?? hyundai's are out there and probably more affordable than japanese or american cars... so with that in mind, money doesn't grow on trees now days.

Are Hyundais reliable now? I think they used to have a lot of mechanical problems, which is probably why they used to be unpopular.

I understand the point of not upsetting holocaust survivors (wow..) by reminding them of anything from germany. But seriously, money-wise, Germany has more than been made to pay the debt, and it was regular people that suffered, people that didn't even agree with what was happening in the first place.

people confuse "the nazis" and "the germans" way too much. Imagine that people judged you and the companies that happen to operate within your country by the actions of the US government.

honestly though these days I don't think it matters. In fact, considering everything, germany is probably one of the countries *least* likely to do any more bad shit any time soon, so wanting to cripple their economy at this point is a bit redundant.

as for other cars.. a Toyota Yaris Verso was the best car my family ever had! only reason we don't anymore is 'cos it got a bit.. totalled. We now have a skoda instead, 'cos it's cheap, but nothing like the yaris. I miss that car..
