I love that list, lol. I don't even know what that is... I just took the first three hits.

either way, he survived it. he had to wait for roosevelt to get out of office to finally get saved 3 and a half years later. but he survived.

They actually had the school board ready to implement their textbookk & ideas. THAT is what is scary. If it was from a US media source then of course it's going to have a liberal spin and make creationists look like they are trying to take over the world. You actually think they pose a serious risk to anyone? How am I supposed to take you seriously? I guess I should be shitting my pants about the Scientologists as well.

Is this how you expect to learn something in an argument, DM? Considering how scary and serious this problem is Indi and the widespread agreement among scientists on the issue it's just a little ironic I haven't heard more about it. But the real point is not whether I've heard about it but if I've actually seen it, given I'm the demographic that is supposedly being affected

I'm sure being an undergrad has everything to do with it. In another 3.5 years I'm sure I'm going to start fearing the red states

At least the Soviet Union didn't have you by the financial balls.
If I were you, I'd pick a leader w/a brain who understands diplomacy & foreign policy. Bush was a total retard that way & still is. The US couldn't deal with Vietnam? You know why? Cause we half-assed that war from the start just like we did Iraq. We weren't fighting to win. We matched the Viet Cong and pretty much gave them a fair fight in that respect
And no, it's not just having bombs, delivery of the weapon is just as important a part of things. That is why the B-2 stealth bomber gives us massive air supremacy, it can carry nukes and can deliver them because the best anti-air defenses can't take one out
You are comparing how we fought Vietnam to how we WOULD fight China... Terrible analogy
And yes, I agree Bush is a retard

| | Indi, this will of course go nowhere. But to summarize, you think the efforts of people in the south to teach creationism in public schools is lowering the quality of our students, and I think it is not big enough or serious enough to be a problem. Is that a fair statement?
See, this is why arguing things like this goes nowhere. On sciencemadness you give a case for a synthesis and someone gives theirs, and you go run it and see what happens. Here, we just have to wait another 10 or 20 years and see what happens. You might like sciencemadness.org if you are into chemistry Indi. Organic chemistry section of the board is best. Just don't piss off Sauron (I'm not him, btw)
On a side note, like after most of my bitter arguments, I want to say that all of this stuff I just argued you with Indi I hold none of it personally, and still like you just as much as before and still want to be your friend Because I know some people think arguing a person on issues you are passionate about means you don't like them, but I really love Indi
But you know what I discovered? It would be incredibly erotic to get into a bitter and intense argument with a girl and afterwards just **** her senseless. If only Indi was my age and lived a little closer... Jesus Christ that would be awesome
Oh and Indi if you are ever in Ithaca, just let me know ahead of time

Is that a fair statement? Its not a big enough problem to be losing sleep over. I don't. I do recognize its a symptom, tho, of a larger Problem and merits awareness & watching. I already mentioned potential effects on the education system. The fact that the whole issue actually had to go to court at all speaks to its seriousness.
I'm not surprised you haven't really heard of the issue. I doubt most undergrads have. No decent biologist would give it any airtime in the actual classroom. But anyone actually teaching certainly has, and even you have heard of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I'm sure. SFM was created by a young physics grad student as a satirical response to the issue. So you *have* heard of it, just not thought about it directly.

OC was one of my best subjects, actually. I was really good at analysing NMR & IR plots. But I'm not going online to talk w/a bunch of scientists, I do this all the time. I come here to have fun & relax w/normal ppl, lol.

You're a sweetie, DM. I don't take anything online seriously. Even when Raver calls me a ****ing uptight biatch that cheats at cards Its good.

Oh and Indi if you are ever in Ithaca, just let me know ahead of time Ah, I was guessing a coastal... so its Ursus ithacan... yes, a rare animal. I found that enviroment incredibly stressful; sounds like you found the right balance. Alas, I never got to try out a chem major... and you are totally right about sex w/a brainy gal until you can't think straight. It helps. I'm glad you've figured that one out, they will thank you for it.

ugh, i'm angry today. where's that pms thread... Teddy sounds, by all accounts I have read, to have been one hell of a man.
My history professor in college would also tell our class about one early president, who, after being elected, was holding a press conference while intoxicated. Someone asked him a dumb question and rather than try to answer it or ignore it, he leaped from the platform into the crowd and pummeled the guy.
The accounts of Teddy's actions in office are incredible as well. I'd love to see some fiery, generally angry, iron-willed guy with a tendency for taking care of business immediately, run for office.
Not so much as to vote for him, so as to know there exist people like this still in our country.

You won't find people analysing NMR and IR plots on sciencemadness because most of the site deals with practical synthesis. Such as dimethylurea to caffeine

| | | I agree with Ron Paul and his views on how a society should be but I think he should be more restrictive in economic terms as only a few people know enough to be able to manage their money to full potential...
But I'm from a country where the president has few powers so... (but powerful, he can actually reject all the government and ask for new elections at any time he fells right to do so).

| | | | Well, this morning I woke up to some statistics based on polls that showed that the Republicans are winning more states than the democrats.
I am worried about this country. Time to move to Germany!

Republicans aren't that bad, I'm probably going to vote for McCain in the next election
The Democrats are a bunch of pussies
