I personally would never ride a motorcycle on the streets. Not because I wouldn't trust myself riding one, it's that I don't trust the drivers around me. My dad had two friends in college that died on a motorcycle. One of them was on some ride to raise money for breast cancer and he ended up getting side swiped by a big rig. He sat his boy in front of him and puttered along. An SUV pulled out of its driveway and he hit it going about twenty. He was hurled forward and smashed his son between the SUV and his own body. His boy died.
I know a few more stories like that. My dad rides motorcycles and so do his friends. One by one, his middle-aged, experienced, responsible friends are dying or severely injuring themselves. Doesn't matter how good you are, one day you'll make a mistake, or someone else will make the mistake for you.
Bikes are a blast. I love them. But you'll never see me on a public road. Get the car. Besides, it's more practical. A bike's fun for a while, but you're gonna get real pissed real quick if it's your only form of transportation.
