| | | | I hate my roommate Well, my first class is 8am, every day except wednesday. I usually set my alarm for 6:45 so that I can get ready, eat breakfast, and take my time walking across campus. Expecting to wake up and do the same, I instead woke up at 8:30 am, to the sound of my roommate just about to leave for class.
I missed my ****ing class.
I am convinced the asshole turned off my alarm.
What should I do? How can I prevent this from happening? | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.

| | | Why would your roommate turn off your alarm? I bet you just forgot to set it. Have you been booted from the class? At my school, if you miss the first day, you are automatically dropped.

| | | Get a watch with an alarm. If you suspect someone is ****ing with you, you have to make it impossible for them. There's no way to know if he did it or not, but you can't go through the entire semester thinking he might do it again.

Oh no, I vividly remember setting both alarms on my clock (one for 6:45 am, and another for 7:15 am) My alarm clock is on full throttle, volume-wise, and sets to a radio station. It does not turn off until you manually flip the switch(es). I am certain it is my roommate. This is not the first time this has happened. He's a pompous asshole, and very ignorant; I firmly believe that the prick took it into consideration that I have class at 8 in the morning, I've told him 3 times; I've made it clear.

Yeah, I thought I'd risk it last night and just not set the alarm on my mobile phone.... it's always the times like those that you get screwed over!

Also, make some happy threads Lilwing. You always seem to be moaning about something. I think hate perfectly describes how much his ignorance exacerbates my college experience. He does a lot of things that I really don't have room to bitch about, since I didn't switch roommates while I could've... but he seemed like a decent guy at first.
Make more threads geared towards happiness? Sure, I suppose. I haven't had many epiphanies lately, but I will give it a try when I think of something worth the effort.

| | | Even if it was a complete accident your alarm didnt go off then it still makes him a jerk for not waking you himself! Anyway the best you can do is set multiple alarms so even if they are being turned off theres another alarm going off to fall back on. If it continues to happen confront him and or move..

| | that sucks. Are you SURE it was him? 'cos frankly, you tend to jump to these conclusions easily and not give people the benefit of the doubt.
anyway, yeah, an alarm-clock watch sounds good. or maybe set an alarm on your macbook- and set a screensaver password.. nobody will be able to turn it off for you.

raverboy Haha, I am certainly not the vengeful type... it really takes a lot to build me up to that point of anger. Thus, I have been thinking about bare-assing his pillow or something.

Need I explain the kind of person he is?
edit: LOL I am totally going to buy that bomb clock!

| | | Pay back is always fun. I hate roommates sometimes, but i think they all have good ideas. Just set enough alarms to no matter what your forced to wake up. I had to to that quite a few times actually | |

You go "NO I DON'T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS!" rather than saying "I don't think I do that.. what makes you say that?". And btw, every human being on this planet makes conclusions. Those that can't, we call mentally retarded.

My alarm clock is fully functioning. have you seen him do it? 'cos if you haven't, you don't actually have proof. You just have a strong suspicion. You're probably right, too, I just wanted you to consider what else it could be. 'Cause I've totally slept over my alarm, or even turned it off myself and forgot that I had done that, etc.
I find a really good trick is to drink at least half a liter water before going to bed. Not only will you wake up, but you'll have to get up, too

I only have your word to go on. I merely suggested that you might consider other causes. Instead you want to list off the reasons for your conclusion?

Or there's this.. http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/lights/8f1a/
but I think the simplest solution is simply something like this; http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18461/awaken
or, lock your cell phone so that it requires a PIN to unlock; then set your alarm.

| | | lilwing, just listen to yourself for a second here. Read back this thread. Watch the progression:
It started with a strong suspicion: "I am convinced the asshole turned off my alarm."
then you became more sure of it: "I am certain it is my roommate."
then it became stated as a fact: "he's done it before"
and again: "I HAVE seen him do it before."
that's some pretty efficient self-convincing. And for crying out loud, I said you're probably right anyway. I merely pointed out another possibility. You don't have to bite my head off.
Anyway, as was pointed out, he's an asshole anyway even if he didn't turn the alarm off, because he could easily have woken you up knowing when you had class.
Does your cell phone have that feature? 'cos that strikes me as the easiest way of ensuring that it doesn't happen again.
