| | | Starting My Tool Collection I just bought a Bosch 10 volt cordless driver with the new lithium ion batteries. Small, light, and powerful (considering I'm mostly doing light screw driving), plus it has LED lights for dark corners. The lithium ion batteries charge in 30 minutes.
It's awesome.
I never thought I'd see the day when I'd enjoy browsing home depot over gamestop.
This is what I got:
This is what I wanna get: 36 volts baby.

| | | Daaaaamn. 36 volts.
I have an 18-volt cordless drill but it doesn't have those snazzy lights on it. Cool.

| | | 36 volts seems like the new standard.
Probably would be ridiculous with the old batteries, but with the lithium ion, they're either smaller, or just as large (but with more juice).
That little drill was 150 bucks.
I'd struggle with my conscience if that were being spent on videogames, but I barely gave it a thought when I picked that baby up.

| | | That will make money for you. It's an investment, as I see it.

| | | I love power tools and the giant home improvement stores you buy them in.
My favorite item I purchased was a ceramic tile cutter. It's a wet saw.

| | | I used a wet saw extensively at Pool Pros.
'Cept half the time it dry...with high winds.
And we're talking 2 inch thick stone slabs.

As far as tools, I do woodworking & burning as a hobby at home. My husband enjoys metalwork & is a pretty handy guy.
We have a nearly full workshop in our basement. We did a pretty major reno of our house last year, stripped it to the studs, etc. There is nothing like a house reno to max out your tool budget.

Can I use a wet saw to cut outside paving stones? They are pretty thick (about 2"), much thicker than ceramic tile.

| | | I don't know, indi. the tiles I've cut have only been around 1/4". My saw might cut a little thicker, but I don't know about 2". Frasbee would probably know better than I.
