| | | Cycling So we've had golf threads, fishing threads, snowboarding, and others. So I thought I'd start a thread on cycling. I love cycling, I'm addicted to it. Whenever I have time or sometimes after work I go down to the beach and just ride. Today I pushed myself farther and harder than I've ever done. When I got back and off my bike I felt like I was going to throw up. But you know, even though I felt like complete shit and could hardly walk...I felt awesome. I felt like I accomplished something and I know next time I do the same thing, I won't feel so bad and I'll keep getting better. Plus my legs are starting to look awesome, ladies .
One thing I do find odd though is that it's a rare sight to see someone my age on a bike that isn't a strand cruiser. Kinda wish there were more people my age on road bikes. Seems everything I do, older people do. lol
Oh ya and I'm training for the Acura LA Bike Tour. I'm stoked, even though it's next year. I also plan on buying myself a new bike. I'm riding on my dad's 30 year old Nishiki road bike. But a bike is a bike, and I'm just training right now so there's no rush to get a new bike. And so far it's been good to me. Plus there's nothing like passing someone with a $1000+ bike on your 30yro heavy steel bike...lol.
So anyone else here love cycling?

But my bike broke a couple years ago and I've been too lazy to get a new one.

| | | Oh my god, when i saw this thread I got a huge smile on my face. I love cycling. Weather has been shit for many many days and I am still dreaming of going out with my bike... aaargh, can't wait. Of course I can ride with any weather, but I am waiting because I have specific ridings in my mind.
Now if somebody would only give me some cheap road bike... Tired of doing long distances with my mtb. Oh, and why get a new bike if anyhting that is broken, can be fixed...?

Now if somebody would only give me some cheap road bike... Tired of doing long distances with my mtb. Oh, and why get a new bike if anyhting that is broken, can be fixed...? It's an old heavy bike. Not the most comfortable, components are pretty worn, there's a few broken teeth. It's noisy. Wheels aren't true, finding 27x1.25 tires and rims at local bike shops isn't easy. Sourcing replacement components isn't easy. Plus I want something nicer for when I actually do the Bike tour. But I'm going to keep training on it because...it's heavy, slow, and not the nicest bike. It's perfect training, not a race. That's why I said there's no rush for me to buy a new bike. But I want one eventually.
I'm looking at a used Trek 1500. They pop up every now and then for about $600-$900. I would have bought one new but the
'08 1500(now called the 1.5) comes with crappier components (sora and tiagra). The 07 and earlier came with 105 components.
Weather is bad you say? The weather is never bad. Unless theirs a natural disaster going on...there's no reason you shouldn't be out there. lol.

But on a better note, my calves are starting to get leaner, wooot!!! I finally found a sport I'm good at. Can't believe I didn't start earlier. I was born to ride a bike, when I was young I would ride for hours upon hours on my bike around the block until I couldn't ride anymore.
But stopped because I got older and thought it wasn't cool to ride a bike. I think this is something I'm going to be doing till I physically can't do it anymore. Plus I've got an advantage, I'm starting young compared to most people. I rarely see anyone my age riding a road bike. Usually mid 20's at the youngest. I want cyclist legs . | | The Following User Says Thank You to 1averagejoe For This Useful Post:

| | | I am more into offroad biking, recently started to take risky steep paths, fell really hard, broken my bike few times. Luckily nothing has happened to me yet. But sometimes I just want to bike on a road for 100km, it could be more if I wouldn't own this tractor. However, I am not definately racing type, I am really out of shape and biking is just fun for me. I biked my whole childhood, then due to financial conditions had 5 years pause in the middle school.
Trek 1500 for $600 you say? I wish they were so cheap in my country. It is hard to find a road bike under $1000.

I would bike to work (11miles), but my parents won't let me. They keep telling me it's too dangerous and as long as I'm under their roof I'm not allowed to. I'm 19 and they're overprotective. | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.
