And I'd be right there working on those artificial replicators post-orgasm, why not?
We can freeze eggs & sperm now, so the tech exists to propagate for intelligence. Just seems a bit... eugenic... trouble is you never know what you are losing in the selection process.
And one could make use of those <130s as incubators, I suppose. Fertilize an Alpha genome pair & implant into the betas/gammas. Cyteen looks pretty interesting. I'll have to pick that up. Been meaning to read some science fiction for once.
You definitely want to read this. Its been recently released as a single book (it was originally a trilogy)--make sure you get the complete one. And she's working on a sequel, so the timing is good. I rank this book in my Top 3 Sci-Fi books, right up there with Dune & Ender's Game. I'm just surprised it hasn't got much of a following (Ender's Game is now studied by the US military). | | The Following User Says Thank You to IndiReloaded For This Useful Post: | | |

Those are two of my absolute favorites. If Cyteen is spoken in the same breath as those greats I'm definitely going to get it.

I'm less enamoured of her fantasy stuff tho, not my thing.
If you like Ender's series, then def look her up.
Hellburner/Downbelow Station/Tripoint/Finity's End -- all excellent books in the same 'universe' & timeline as Cyteen. Some others:
The Faded Sun series
The Chanur series
The Explorer series
Have fun. | |
