If everyone votes with their guns that won't be a democracy anymore. The one who has bombs will have more votes than the ones with guns and the one with a good virus and biological weapon will have the most.

I don't know why everyone continues to piss and moan about the US.

I think much of the world feels a bit imposed upon by it. boobaa obviously does.

I feel like it could be a hell of a lot worse than it is, though.

I've said this before but it need said again.

People bitch and moan when the US acts, but when we sit back and do nothing, people bitch and moan.

Could be something to do with US dominant position in the world politics and the role US plays in the politics of other countries. Did you know that US ambassador to Australia actively encouraged people not to vote for the oposition leader a while back? I think if US plays such a significant role in political lives of other countries other countries can play some role in political life of US. Just my opinion though.

Its b/c the rest of the world is, frankly, stunned that the world's potentially BEST country, with a 1/4 of a billion people doesn't have its shit together enough to keep an idiot administration from pulling the stunts it has. Corrupt & f-up priorities & religious fundamentalist nutbars doesn't even begin to cover it.

If I were american, I'd be embarrassed when travelling to a foreign country & they ask me what I think of our foreign policies. Or at least appalled. I have plenty of american friends who are, btw, before you get your panties in a knot. They are all what we would call highly educated, intelligent individuals.

What it really boils down to, for me, is the inescapable yet appalling conclusion: most americans simply don't give a shit. And those that do can't get the one's who don't to actually care enough to try to make things better.

So, if you care about things like Iraq & Guantanamo Bay--well done, your feeling of 'care' hasn't accomplished shit. If you don't--well done likewise.

There are two types of personalities when discussing a problem. I have never experienced any other sort: those who are part of the problem & those who are part of the solution.

So...why wouldn't that make it a democracy?

We're all just a bunch a pussies, is all.

Modern living is much more comfortable than it was before, so why bother going out and risking getting yourself killed?

Voting is done with nothing more than the press of a button.

The masses rally against an oppressive dictator.

Worst case scenario:
The dictator blows everyone up.

Now there's nobody left to lead because the masses decided it was worth dying to rid their country of some prick.

Best case scenario: They storm the capital and overthrow the government, hang and deface the dictator and his wife.

PS We're allowed to bitch about US policy when it comes to things affecting the world, such as wars and the holding of foreign prisoners. Whatever you do with your own people is your business, I don't care. I only care what my government's internal policy is.

They fought them because they were taking over their country. If you guys had a bunch of them come over and kill your president and try to take control of YOUR country and set it to THEIR ideal standards, would you not be pissed? Some people would stand by and do nothing, others would get irate and start shooting....and I'm guessing you'd be first in line DM.

So it's not murdering people without cause. It's WAR, fool. A war you started....so guess what? There's going to be casualties (duh). And if you truly think that the Americans were right to humilate and torture helpless prisoners, then you are sick in the head. We're supposed to be 'better' than them? Yet the way you talk you make the west look like just as much of 'animals' as you accuse these people of being.

I'm now done with this thread and any further political threads on this forum. The constant bitching is extremely tiresome.

I want to jump in the ring here, but I never feel like I have enough valid information to voice a real (justifiable) opinion. I don't think any of you really do either, but perhaps "going with what you know" has to be done at some point, I guess.
