| | | Need some suggestions for paper. OMG! I can't find any topics to do my paper on. Need some suggestions. I need to write an argumentation paper. Any good interesting topics? Just throw them at me. Professor doesn't want the usual boring stuff which is usually always written about i.e. abortion, physician assisted suicide etc... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.

| | | What general topic are you interested in? Medicine? Law? How about whether or not a woman should give back an engagement ring if the engagement is called off?

| | | There are so many argumentative subjects that you can literally browse through whole categories (just browsing this forum you will find quite a few). What is it that interests you?
General epics always seem to be Science vs Religion, political isolationism vs pre-emptive engagement, socialism vs capitalism, eugenics vs ethics, intelectual property vs open source, good environment vs more pocket money, human rights vs national security, universal healthcare vs less tax etc.

| | | Ask around what's your teacher interested it. Try to find out whether he wrote a book on some subject, and then have that in your essay LOL | |

| | | I'd try to avoid the more common topics. You are likely to have other people in class do the same thing, and not only might you bore your teacher, you may compare unfavorably to your classmate.

| | | How about a simple topic like the pros/cons of first year undergrads working a part-time job vs full time study? Social benefits, income, time away from study, experience, etc... there might even be a bit of research on the net that you can refer to for your 'appeal to authority' example.
You are trying to demonstrate your understanding of rhetoric/argumentation, yes? So a simple topic will allow you to quickly sum up both sides & demonstrate all the ways to argue. Don't go too nuts, tho, its a huge area as you know. Pick 3-4 main techniques & demonstrate them (unless you've been instructed to use as many as you can). | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to IndiReloaded For This Useful Post:

You want an A, do it on why U.S should not vote for Obama or H.Clinton. It involves religion and gender.
Or Gas prices could be a good one.

| | | In an ethics class, I wrote a paper for the use of marijuana and why it should be legalized. The professor said of the 50+ people in the class he really enjoyed reading the unusual but convincing views I had. | |

j/k - I actually favor legalization of all illegal drugs.

There are so many chemicals created by man that will do far worse and have much less benefits. In fact the major issue with marijuana besides that it is illegal is that it is smoked. That is where most of its detrimental effects come from.
I like challenging my mind to different views. The professor was a christian minister and theologist who held AA, DA and other substance abuse, etc classes to those that needed help. He definitely did not believe in using illegal drugs (he probably thought I was with the viewpoints I wrote!). He enjoyed that I wrote a very convincing topic on the matter. I am very positive he used prescription drugs and in my view if that is used then one can really not argue much about an herb that can easily have been created into a prescription drug used to treat certain medical conditions. He like that point. Some people are quick to say that it's illegal. Duh, but lets talk more about it. He liked that as well .
Of course, it is illegal so do not use!

| | | A synthetic version of THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) is already used in prescription medicine. (Marinol)

| | | i also dislike the "it's illegal" argument. a lot of things are illegal or have been illegal at one point of another. slavery was legal at one point. harboring a escaped slave was illegal. alcohol was illegal.
it's just, not an argument.
