What is your take on tattoos?
Ok so I was on this other forum (yea I was cheating on loveforum.net....forgive me )....and I was reading a thread about tattoos and there were negative and positive comments about them.....so what are you guys' views on tattoos? Are you against them or for them or does it even matter?

Well, IMO, I like tattoos. I have one and I am getting my second one today. I have nothing against tattoos. There are people who get tats for the hell of it, and just ones that are out of humor, which is also not a problem, just as long as you dont regret it in the long run. Others, such as myself, have life long meanings behind their tattoos, whether it be family, friendship,or whatever you are keeping in your life. My first tattoo is located on top of my foot. It says Desire and has a butterfly flying over it. My nickname is Desire from my Grandfather, he passed away when I was in junior high, and he nicknamed me that because it was a desire for my mother to have me, and I was his favorite grandchild,as he stated himself. The tat I'm getting today is going to be on the back of my neck. It will say Arianna, my daughter's name....need I say more? Well that is my view and my personal story about tattoos.....Whats yours?

Thanks.

Well I like them if they are meaningful, and aren't huge. I don't like it when young girls get 'tattoos' of stupid things for stupid reasons. Why would you pay €200 to have a butterfly inked into the back of your ass? Beyond me. I also don't understand, why people get a life-size tattoo of their late friend's putz on their chest.

I guess I really don't personally care at all. But I do tease people for the stupid things they do.

Speaking anecdotally, females usually attach some sort of meaning to the tattoos they get.

As for me, I don't care for them, especially on females. I have yet to see a woman over 50 be happy with the ones they have, and they don't look so cute on sagging, wrinkly, older skin. They also (if visible) make it difficult to look professional and classy, and when the soccer moms start getting them, they won't even be considered "cool" anymore. They are difficult (if not impossible) to remove, and the ones on the lower back can interfere with your ability to get epidural anesthesias and CT scans, both common medical procedures.

That being said, I realize they are immensely popular right now, and I suspect that means they will be common when you are a little old lady with dementia, no teeth, and wearing a diaper.

I think they're okay as long as they're not used excessively, as in one or two versus covering half your body with your affiliation to the russian mafia or something.

If I were to get one I'd keep it at a place where its not seen on a regular basis, merely so that people who have a problem with it wont see it (say if I was wearing a t-shirt at some job get-together or something), so I'd go for one at the back, chest or shoulder.

Oh, and yesterday there was an article in the newspaper about how you can inject a cream which then emerges through the skin to form a scab and takes the ink with it on the way up.

I'd be really interested in hearing what it is called, if you can find it...

I want to get a skin rip tattoo on my side. Starting from just under my armpit to just above my waist. It will have the flesh being peeled back and reveailing bones and a heart that has been patched up a few times. To me it stands for my heart being broken and torn but it can always be fixed. And the skin rip is becuse of all the pain and suffering I have gone through.

Not for me...

I think the body is one of the greatest works of art. So why would you want to graffiti over it.

I like tattooing. We're only on this planet in these bodies for a limited amount of time, so why not have a little fun with them? Plus, I like the idea that it is keeping alive an ancient art form that has a rich history and different meanings to different cultures.

I have a one and would love to get another. Mine is small cherry blossom branch on the inside of my arm. I have it strategically placed so that I can cover it with a sleeve if I need to look more "corporate," which I kind of like because it looks pretty peeking through my shirt sleeve. It's fairly new. I got it in May and have no regrets.

I do think that tattoos are vanity items and like lots most vanity items, they're expensive. I feel kind of sad when I see younger people getting them at the expense of more practical things. For example, I know a young woman who can't even take care of her own daughter (the kid lives with her grandmother in another country), but has nine tattoos and is planning to get more. I can't help feeling like if this woman could put that much energy and money into getting rather large tattoos all over her body, she could put some energy into raising her kid or at least putting that money into some kind of college fund for her daughter. Maybe that's overly judgemental of me, but it's sad to see where her priorities lie.

Ladie, your tattoos sound beautiful and very meaningful to you.

Those wound tats are the most tasteless and disgusting of the lot. Ugh. I hate them.

I'm indifferent to them on guys but I hate them on women. It makes them look like used goods or something. Especially those ones on the lower back. Nothing says SLUT like on of those. Unless you're a porn star, why do it?!

I love them on men, too. I once dated a guy who had all these black and white tribal tattoos all over his arms and chest. When we had sex, he looked like a tiger climbing over me. Rawr!

That's a mild one. I met a guy once who had one across his throat. It was hideous. I bet the dumbass couldn't even get a job pumping gas.

Ill be getting it done is a place where only I can see it and others if I don't wear a shirt. I rarly don't wear a shirt anyway. Its my way of expressing myself in a way the words can't explane if that makes any sense. I was going to get it done on my arm but I wouldn't be able to get a job if I got it on my arm. I'm not your avarge guy. I see things diffrent to people. I see the true feelings... not the fake shit that people show. Like there little wall to hide there real emotions.
