well thing is, im in year 12, and im going out with a year 9..but she is very very mature for her age, and we love each other and get along very well. When im with her i dont even notice an age difference, but everyone seems to voice there own opinions and say its wrong. what do you think ?

Is it illegal? Yes. At least if you're in the US it is. Is it wrong? No. Love has no age limits, although many times people (especially girls) around that age have no clue what love is and are so ready to have it they jump into things they shouldn't. But as long as you're responsible and take it by the horns there shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you check your states laws, statutory rape is a bitch of a sentence for not committing a crime.

When I was in high school I would have said no. But now that I have a 14 year old daughter it's a different story. I have to admit I'd be VERY nervous if she started dating an 18 year old. (Just guessing at ages here, based on the info you gave). I know girls mature at an earlier age than guys, but you STILL have to be very careful with her. There is so much that is new to her that may or may not be new to you. Zekk is right. If there is ANY chance of sex (if you haven't been there already), you best check out the laws. They are very strict, and if her parents aren't cool with it, (who's would be? She's their little girl after all), you could be in a MESS of trouble. But maybe we are jumping the gun. If this is a sweet and innocent relationship then enjoy your time together. As you get older the age difference matters less and less.

id say, if your 18 and she is under 16, it would be wrong to have a sexual relationship with her, but if its an innocent relationship, i dont see anything wrong with it.... but whatever the circumstances, be very careful with the situation...

lets face the fatcs what a 18 year old and what a 13 year old would want out of a relationship are 2 very different things.

Where are you guys getting 13 and 18 from? Year 9 and year 12 are only four years apart. Not that 14 and 18 is much different; just clarifying is all.

Nah, I think it's the same and the age difference depends on what time of the year you were born. If she was born in the beginning months and you were born in the ending months then it makes perfect sense. I was born in November so was only 16 when I entered grade 12, but turned 17 before December.

17 and 14 is not illegal in the US. Trust me - I would know -- I have gone trhu this kind of crap twice and never again...

The law is funny and has alot of loop holes. But I will try to clarify it for everyone here - REMEMBER - this is the US Law - I dont know about anywhere else in the world. Just the good ol' USA

If both parties are 17 or younger then there is a 3 year age limit. If you are 3 years or less apart then it is perfectly fine. If you are 4 or more, then the older party will get Statchetory rape charges IF parents of younger party want to press charges.

If 1 party is 17 and the other is 18 or over - then the 3 year mark still stands, but can be bent. lets say a 17 y/o girl is with a 19 y/o guy - it is within the 3 year area so the parents of the girl cant do anything about it. BUT if the girl ever got mad at the guy she could press charges for statchetory rape. She will be able to hold this over his head for 10 years (until she's 27). Same goes for vice versa.

Now, If one party is 18 or over and the other party is 16 or younger - then the 3 year rule is OUT. There is no 3 year rule in this category because it is WAY illegal and ANYONE can report this and press charges on the older party. Friends, Family, Teachers, Policemen, anyone can report this one and there isnt anything anyone can do to stop it.

So since you are 17 and she is 14, if you were in the US it would be perfectly fine. BUT when you turn 18 she will be 15 - thats illegal -- and then 19 and 16 -- THATs illegal too - then 20 and 17 - your borderlining, but its ok again, as long as you kepe her happy for the next 10 years - 21 and 18 your in the clear.

I hope I clarified this law for you all. And remember - It is a USA law. I have no idea how the rest of the world works.
