Ok - this is gonna require as many members cooperation as possible to do this. But before we set a time and date I want alot of ppls input so we can get this to effect the majority of the ppl.

You know on the front page of this site where it says 'most ppl ever online' ? Well, its set at like 57 or something users.

I want to see if we can break that record ! I want to get as many ppl on this site at one time as we can possible get !

I would like our goal to be 100 members online.

I am going to set the date for sometime around the middle of June (June 15th-ish)-- this will give regular users ample time to read this thread and put in the time and day that they can be able to get online - I want to set the date and time permanently to the exact minute no later than June 7. This will give everyone plenty of time to request times and days and then still have enough time BEFORE the day so that everyone will be able to read this post and we all will know for sure when to get online...

I am soo freakin bored and this just sounds like a good idea to me - Who wants to be part of this ???

I am going to start the requesting for June 15, 2004 at 10am CST -- if someone could please convert this time to GMt for me that would be great (i suck at time zones)

Hmmmm. If that's CST, I'd say add 5 hours (unless GMT also has 'daylight savings' in which case it'd be something wierd). But I believe that would be 3 PM GMT.

That day's fine with me. Actually pretty much any weekday between 3 PM GMT and 8 PM GMT would be GREAT for me.

This reminds me of a practical joke (a BAD one) that all the freshmen pulled at the military college I used to go to. It was done in the past though (and we now KNEW not to do it again). Apparently, one of the earlier classes of the college pulled a bad spirit mission (that's what we called "pranks" over there because they are supposed to boost your freshmen 'spirit' if it goes off correctly).

They arranged through word of mouth to flush ALL the toilets in the entire campus at 12:01 on a saturday night. Little did they know that the pipes aren't designed to take the stress of ALL the toilets being flushed at the same time and there some VERY unhappy generals . . . . and after the punishment came down, some VERY unhappy freshmen . . . although I'm sure they all secretly smiled knowing that that memory will be with them for the rest of their lives.

Iron points out a good point there. If this IS going to negatively affect my porn downloading potential, I'm gonna have to say NAY to this plan Billy. And at this point in my life (well, pretty much ALL my life so far . . .) porn has been a very important thing to me. Maybe one day I won't need as much, but for now, I need a fresh, daily supply. Those two weeks when I didnt have my Verizon online DSL working? PURE HELL!!!!!

it wont take down the internet - the worst thing it can do is lag the server a bit - maybe the loading time will slow down 3-5 seconds -- I have already run tests on this server and it can withstand at least 150 users at once - i dont know about any higher tho... So I have set the goal at 100 - if we pass 150 then sweet ! the only thing that will happen is the server will crash.

And no - not like crash like your all thinking - it will basically freeze up and need to be restarted - and most servers (at least I have mine set up to do this) will auto restart afer being frozen for 30 seconds -- so at most this site will go down (offline - you will get an error when trying to view this site) for a few minutes until it restarts.

It will amuse me none the less tho...

And it is 100% harmless - I promise.

and no... this will NOT take down the entire internet - only this site (www.loveforum.net) for a few minutes only. All other internet sites and everything will still work just as normal...
