I'm attracted to...(Is this normal)
(I KNOW IT'S LONG - BUT PLEASE READ IT AND HELP ME IF YOU CAN)

Growing up, my taste in women has always changed. But I've noticed a rather consistent personal taste in woman over the past few years.

I'm attracted to Italian/Spanish/Western European women.

I really don't know why. I've never lived there, I've never really met any of those kind of women necessarily.

I think it is kind of bazzare how out of nowhere, I feel a stronger attraction to women from these places. Maybe it's the culture I'm attracted to, or what I think the lifestyle is like...I'm thinking it has to do with geography - but at then again, if I noticed an Italian/Spanish/Western European girl in USA, then I'd still be attracted. And this kind of cancels out my geography theory.

I don't know if this is a phase - probably not, since I'm much older now, and matured, but it's something I've never shared with anyone - it's kind of embarrasing admitting this!

If anything, I was wondering if any of you guys could come up with some sort of explanation or reasoning as to why you think I'm attracted to these women more than any other.

Thanks, and I'd appreciate it!

Why are you embarrassed? I think I mentioned before that my bf is East Indian, and I am totally attracted to Indian guys. Don't know why. Something about the way they look......dark hair/eyes...so mysterious. And they look so damn hot when you dress them up...aye aye aye. Can't quite put my finger on it, but I'd take them over a white guy any day, and I'm not ashamed to say so. The culture has a minor part in it, but that's not completely it......just like you, I really can't explain it.

I think there's far too much 'worry' about admitting attractions to other races. I mean, it's not 1950. Don't question it, RSK, just go with it. I'd tell you the same thing if you said "I'm attracted to men and I'm not sure why." If it's in your nature, then just be who you are.

Matured?

And you're embarrassed of voicing your own opinion?

Grow up.

God you're such an attention whore.

Ha! Hello again Cyborg. When I said "I'm leaving for good this time!!!11", I was actually referring to my whoring nature - it's gone. This is all that's left - RSK and his bare necessities of love, life, and it's complexities.

Which is why I havn't posted in a while, I'm taking it easy. Life doesn't have to always be a rush.

Actually, I do remember you posting this when I first came here to LF! You have one heck of a memory!

I was reading your post, and it's simply beautiful the way you say "don't question your attraction - just go with it".

Thanks for your post!

But if you don't mind, how did you look past the whole 'streotype' that we east indians have, (red spot, funny accent, hello come again, working in a gas station, etc, etc,)

The fact that you have an east indian bf, then you probably know that there are two types of Indians:

The Westernized Indian
and the FOB

(I would be the former) It kind of suck in way, but the FOB and Western Indian groups in the States don't really get along.

I'm not sure if your dating a FOB, or a Westernized Indian - but there is a huge difference. FOB's are usually more connected to their Indian Culture.

Don't get me wrong - So are Westernized Indians - but not as much, and we don't speak the language fluently (even though we can understand it)

I think at least 1 more generation of living here in the USA, and all these Westernized Indians wouldn't be recognizable anymore - I know it's not what our grandparents want - but as i said, that's nature's way of unfolding...

One more other thing about east indians, (westernized one's):

We're not too black, and not too white in terms of skin colour:

BAM - We're right in the middle.

I think this is the direct consequence of the vast array of east indian personalities we have today:

You have the Indian that thinks he's black
The indian that think's he totally white
The surfer Indian dude that lives by the beach
The rebelious Indian dude that puts on white make-up
The indian that acts totally prep

The list goes on and on. And I've met all types. I guess every race has their fair share of 'posers', but i think it's more pronouced in the east indian community.

I really went off on a tangent here, so I'll thank you again for your post, Thanks.

I think it starts to get very ridiculous when you start to reply your own post - but here I am doing it! Ha!

But, it's true, this forum will not be as lively without my 'otherside', but i think i'd be making a lot of you happier by not opening 50,000 threads every week.

I'm with you man, something about latina women is just so attractive. My father is from Lima, Peru though so it might just be me wanting to become closer to my own culture. I've yet to be with one either! I've been with white and black, but never dated a latina. >:[

I love all women, don't get me wrong... but if I could choose I'd want to meet a Peruvian girl. I think that'd be so awesome...

Well, I don't let stereotypes be a barrier to any type of a relationship with people...be it a friendship or a love interest. I think people can be too preoccupied with these things. He was good looking, funny, and sweet. I didn't see the racial/cultural stuff attached.

My bf is between a FOB and 'westernized'. He was raised in India til 15, so he's kind of different. He has a lot of disdain for westernized Indians who have forgotten their culture, but also disdain for Indians born in India who refuse to accept any part of western culture (especially if they're living in it). Lucky me, I get the best of both worlds.

Wow you sure look enthused about that.

Anyway, one of my cousins (he's 30 somethin') has a strong sense of "asian identity".

This one time he got drunk while we were at a chinese banquet in chinatown, and started preachin' to all us younger crowd (ages varying between 15 and 20) about how we should learn the language, learn how to cook the food and all that jazz that comes with culture. Now it wasn't the first time I heard this stuff and I was already tired of it when he singled me out, that I was the "exception" cause I'm only half.

At first I was like "Yeah, that's right, I'm the exception", but then I started thinkin' about it, and it really got me down.

Since my teenage years my relationship with that side of the family has waned significantly. I definitely set myself apart from them, but when he said that, it made me feel like I was now completely out of place, as if it was no logner just me that felt that way, but they felt that way too.

I still resent the ****ers to this day.

Uh, it's just that I have to listen to bitching all the time on both ends. "All these Indian girls over here act like whores! If they were back in India their parents would beat them stupid!" And then "Why can't aunty learn ****ing english? She's been here 20 years, this isn't India for christ's sake! If she wants India she should move back!" Aye aye aye...all the time....(sometimes it's funny tho)

Fras, I know people in your situation. I know a lot of people who are half asian, and the asian side usually treats them with less favour compared to their 'fully asian' cousins. It's stupid. It's like they think you're either all in, or you're out.
