| | | Blood Donation. Keeping an old promise, I've signed up to donate blood. Appointment is on sept 1st. Basically just wondering has anyone ever donated before? Also how do they do it exactly? (No smartass remarks).
Thanks in advance. | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.

| | I've done it a million times. Basically they just bite your neck and suck away; if you don't like it, bring garlic, a cross and a stake to drive thru their heart. | |

| | | I give blood about 3 times per year. It's no big deal. The worst part is when they prick your finger to check your iron levels before they draw the blood, but they used to do it in your earlobe, which was creepy because you could HEAR it. Then they will lay you down and stick the needle in - don't look if you are weak-stomached. You will feel a little pinch, and perhaps a slight burn that is over within a second or two, and you just lay there. Afterwards, they make you sit for a bit and give you juice and cookies. The whole thing takes maybe an hour if they are running on time.

| | | I have never donated....but I do see the other end of the spectrum. I work at a hospital and at least several times a week there are patients that recieve blood from donors....and we have to check the blood to make sure its the right type and monitor the patients while they are receiving it.
Some of these patients are so sick and look so weak....and after receiving a blood transfusion really perk up and look so much healthier..
It really is a good thing to do....and actually Im thinking about donating myself sometime soon. After seeing the effect it has on other people.....it really is a wonderful thing.

| | | that's not the worse part about giving blood shh.... i hate sitting there for 5 minutes squeezing the pad that they give you so that your blood gets pumped out of your system. and the shitty thing is that you can't work out after that. what a waste of my time.

| | | Eh, I consider it a minor inconvenience that can save someone's life. Who knows? Maybe I am donating blood for YOUR future use.
